How I work with you
The best therapy is one that's designed just for you. I'm grounded in clinical psychology and utilize methods that are evidence-based, meaning we can work to create skills and deepen your understanding of yourself. My main treatment methods are:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Think of this as learning to roll with life's punches. We'll work on accepting those tricky thoughts and feelings, getting super clear on what truly matters to you, and then taking actions that actually line up with your values – even when things feel a bit uncomfortable.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): This is a really powerful way to help your brain process those tough, lingering memories or past traumas. It can gently reduce their emotional sting, helping you feel lighter and more ready to move forward.
Beyond these, I also weave in helpful bits from:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help you spot and gently shift those unhelpful thought patterns and habits.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills: We'll build practical skills for things like staying mindful, managing big emotions, handling tough moments, and navigating relationships more smoothly.
Motivational Interviewing (MI): To help you tap into your own inner drive for change and figure out what truly motivates you.
Basically, you’ll get a supportive listener and you will feel your emotions, understand yourself, and shape your life to move in the direction you want!
I want to make getting help easy for you.

FAQs
What should I expect?
Our first 1-2 sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs (I.e., me asking you a lot of questions). During this time, we can both decide if I am the best person to provide the services you need to meet your treatment goals. If we agree to begin psychotherapy, I will usually schedule one 55-minute session per week, unless another situation is warranted and mutually agreed upon.
What is it like to work with Dr. Benedetto?
Honestly, I try to make this feel more comfortable than going to see a doctor. We will talk about uncomfortable things (like what makes you angry, things that are stressing you out, the difficult thoughts and beliefs you have about yourself). I give a lot of time and space for people to express themselves and feel your feelings. I’ll help you put words to your experience and with your permission we can work on developing skills that we believe will help.
Are there conditions Dr. Benedetto does not treat?
Dr. Benedetto is not a good fit for someone with a substance use disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. These conditions are best handled by people with specialized training outside of Dr. Benedetto’s experience.
How much will this cost?
When paying privately (I.e., without insurance involved), the cost is $260 per session. If you intend to use insurance and Dr. Benedetto is in-network with your insurance, the cost is dictated by your insurance plan. Contact me to get an estimate.
What’s the difference between a psychologist and therapist?
While both aim to improve mental well-being, a psychologist holds a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) with extensive training in research, psychological assessment, and diagnosis, in addition to providing therapy; they generally cannot prescribe medication. A therapist is a broader term encompassing various licensed mental health professionals, often with a master's degree (like LPCs, LMFTs, LCSWs), who primarily focus on providing talk therapy and counseling, and also cannot prescribe medication. Essentially, all psychologists are therapists, but not all therapists are psychologists.
Dr. Benedetto has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She has training in psychological assessments, has completed and published research, and has been seeing clients since 2016 (beginning during the Ph.D. program under the supervision of other psychologists and continuing today).
